Meet the Characters

Hello and welcome to my blog!  Today I am featuring a guest blogger who has graciously agreed to let me do a character interview, which is my favorite kind of interview.  Join me in welcoming Cristal Ryder  and her characters from Being Ariana and Being Bound.  So without further ado here is the interview with Rourke, Ariana and HeatherHer new release, For Elemental Heat, from Elloras’ cave, can be found here.

How did you first meet your writer?

Ariana/Ellie – I invaded her brain. At first I wanted her to write me as a witch with a history dating back to the Druids, but as I got to know her, I thought it best to just be a to keep me mysterious, sexy and very in control

Rourke – In the shadows J I like to be discreet and keep my presence low key. But I had to meet Ariana.

Heather – What about me? I’m involved in this series as well *smiles* I know my writer first thought of me after watching a popular television show. I’m glad she brought me to life and lets me be exactly who I am.

What are your favorite scenes in your book: the action, the dialog or the romance?

Ariana/Ellie – most definitely the action, because it’s hot and mind blowing

Rourke – the action is a good thing indeed *smiles*. But I do have to say, the dialogue between Heather and I is very stimulating which leads to equally satisfying action.

Heather – I’m not a big talker, except in a scene *winks*. I’m a thinker and a doer. However the two go so well together, hand in hand and sometimes the dialogue is the catalyst to amazing action. I choose my words carefully.

Are you happy with the genre your writer has placed you in?

Ariana/Ellie -  Yes. She allows me to explore myself without fear of discovery and live outside my normally very sedate and controlled world. I love that she has given me an alter ego and it’s so fun and liberating being Ariana *giggle*

Rourke – It’s my element. Something I discovered by chance and how I met Ariana/Ellie. She rocked my world and I never thought a woman was capable of that. *pauses in thought* And then, along comes Heather.

Heather – I don’t fit anywhere else. This lifestyle is what I was born to do and I’m good at it. Who knows where I will be tomorrow, but for now, I’m at the Black Phantom.

Would you be interested in a sequel, if your writer was so inclined?

Ariana/Ellie – I think I would like to see what happens in a third book. I was slightly disappointed to have such a small role in Being Bound, but it was unavoidable and necessary.

Rourke – Most definitely. There was a sequel with Being Bound and I was surprised as hell how it all turned out. A third book….it would be very interesting and I think I know how I’d like to see it end. *smiles*

Heather – That is an interesting concept. I think it all depends on my priorities at the time and where I see myself in five years. *looks away in thought* Everything can change in such a short period of time.

Being Ariana Blurb

Is it better to get lost in your fantasy, or be found in another’s?

Ellie Taylor lives her erotic dreams by masquerading herself as Ariana and visiting the Black Phantom. In this club where anything goes, she plans to perform onstage before an audience, building her sexual excitement to a fever pitch before selecting her man. But Ariana is sidetracked by a tall, blond masked maitre-d. He captivates her and all thoughts of performing are forgotten. He’s every bit as domineering as Ariana and pushes her to her sexual limit. Their true identities concealed, they set out to use each other for pleasure–no risk of entanglement or commitment…but that may prove easier said than done.

Being Bound Blurb

Sometimes reality is so much better than fantasy.

A man used to getting what he wants, Tom Rourke doesn’t take being discarded lightly. Smarting from rejection, Rourke decides the complication of women is distracting him from his goal. He refocuses his energy into ownership of the Black Phantom, where he meets Heather Canyon. Drawn into her erotic web, he can’t get her out of his mind. But can he trust her? The only way to know is to experience her first hand.

Dominatrix Heather Canyon is looking for a new beginning, and a safe place where she can let her talents shine. Rourke’s proposition is the perfect opportunity. She must test him to ensure they are the right fit for each other and challenges him at every turn. She isn’t looking for a partner, but has she found her match with Rourke?

Warning – Explicit sex/language, domination, bondage and kink.

Six Sentence Sunday

Hello and welcome back to Six Sentence Sunday! My thanks to those who visited me last week and those who are visiting for the first time. I do appreciate comments so please, let me know what you think of my six.  Each week I will post another six from a work in progress or finished manuscript.  All you have to do is read and enjoy.  That’s it!

This week my six are from a WIP titled Taking Chances.  It’s a short story contracted by Ruby Lioness Press for their Clearwater Melting Hearts Anthology!

Nora continued on toward the cabin, hearing the sound of an engine in the distance.  Glancing up, she blinked through the icy rain to see a small plane circling overhead.  Flying low, with engine trouble from the sounds of it.
Who would fly in this weather?
When the plane came around again, lower this time, sputtering, wings tottering, Nora cursed and broke into a run.
He was landing in her meadow.

I hope you enjoyed these six. For more great snippets please go to Six Sentence Sunday. Or join in the fun next week with six of your own.

Guest Lia Davis talks about The Magic of Love

Hello and welcome!  Today as a special treat I am bringing you Lia Davis, discussing The Magic of Love and her new release Ravished Before Sunrise!  Join me in welcoming Lia :)

The Magic of Love

The heroine’s heart beats a little faster as the hero enters the room. The feeling intensifies when he prowls towards her, his gaze locked with hers. The air grows thick and everything around them disappears. Than all plans of their ten year anniversary are forgotten and they slip away from their guest for “private” time.

Magic of love is that spark, the instant attraction between a couple. It draws them together. Sometimes the magic is there from the moment they meet. Sometimes it takes times to make an appearance. The hero and heroine will mostly likely deny that it’s even there until it grows to the point of intense need that seems to never die down.

It is why I love romance so much. I love the journey the couple goes through, the conflict and struggle to be together. And then the happily ever after.

I’ve heard people say that love takes time, it has to grow and no one can fall in love after one night together. I disagree with that. Although in real life our human natures and life influences and experiences make us leery of falling for a stranger too soon. We want to get to know that person to see if we are compatible with one another. But the point of fictional romance is to set aside those insecurities and hesitations.

Darian and Emalee, the h/h of Ravished Before Sunrise, didn’t set out to find love. They wanted a break from their less exciting lives and have adventure. But they found they wanted more than a one-night stand.

Ravished Before Sunrise

Blurb:

Born with the unusual ability to see what truly lies in the shadows, Emalee Black is stuck between two worlds, the paranormal and the human. Neither one accepts or understands her and she’s forced to live a quiet, boring life in hiding. When her best friend mentions 1Night Stand dating service, Ema chooses a role-playing adventure straight out of her romantic fantasies. She’s to hunt her very own vampire and have her wicked way him.

Vampire Darian Wyman is surprised when his daughter signs him up for a one-night stand with an exclusive matching agency. At first he’s appalled by the idea, but as he reads the details of the date he becomes intrigued. For one night he will get away from the life he has long grown tired of to be hunted and captured by a would-be huntress. But he has plans of his own for his little vixen.

However, when Darian discovers the truth about Ema’s inhuman abilities, the date could end before it gets started.

Excerpt

Darian logged into his email account. An unusual message flashed in his inbox. Madame Eve with 1Night Stand. Why did that sound familiar?

A vague recollection of his daughter mentioning the dating service two weeks before came to mind and he growled. God, please tell me she didn’t. He skimmed through the email and snatched the phone from the desk.

“Hello, Father.” A sweet and cheerful female voice answered after one ring.

“Where are you?”

“Shopping. Is there a problem?”

“You know anything about why I would receive a message from 1Night Stand?” He tried to stay calm and not overreact. The email could be a mistake. Maybe Kat had nothing to do with it.

“Oh! She found a match so soon? That’s great. You’ll have fun.”

Fun? “Katrina, I didn’t request to be set up on a date. I can’t go meet a complete stranger and….” he scanned the email again. “…and spend the night with her?”

“Oh, Daddy, please. This is my gift to you. Now be the adult and have fun.” Her sweet tone did nothing to soothe his growing annoyance.

“Kat….”

“I’m sick of you moping around the mansion. You need a change in your life. Besides, when was the last time you had sex?”

In honor of Mother’s Day, my six are from a manuscript titled Murphy’s Law which is next on my list to go through edits, then on to see if I can get it published.  This scene involves the heroine, Sara, and the first time she meets Murphy’s mom.  I love this scene because it shows there is no comfort like that of a mother’s arms.

“Oh, you poor dear, you’ve been through it, haven’t you?  Come in with me and we’ll get you settled with a nice cup of tea.  Everything’s going to be all right, I promise,” Murphy’s mom crooned.
Sara made a complete fool of herself and broke down into a heap of tears.  She longed to hear those very words for so long that they impacted like a Mack truck into her deepest fears and regrets.  A pair of comforting arms wrapped around her, and Sara let those arms guide her toward the house.

Meet the Characters

Hello and welcome to my blog!  Today I am featuring a guest blogger who has graciously agreed to let me do a character interview, which is my favorite kind of interview.  Join me in welcoming Lia Davis and her characters from Ravished Before Sunrise, a Decadent Publishing 1 Night Stand story.  It’s a fantastic story with wonderful characters so without further ado here is the interview with Darian and Emalee.

Emalee: Thank you, Jennifer, for inviting us over today. It’s great to get out and meet authors and readers. Don’t you agree, Darian? *she leans over and places a kiss on his cheek*

Darian: *his ice blue eyes grow darker and he gives Ema a sensual smile* Yes, love.

How did you first meet your writer?

Darian: I didn’t know a thing about the date until I opened my email. It seems my daughter, Katrina, was plotting against me. *he lifts Ema’s hand to his mouth and places a soft kiss on her knuckles.* But I’m glad she did.

Ema: My best friend mentioned 1Night Stand and figured it would be fun to pretend for one night that I’m not weird.

Darian: You’re not weird. You’re my beautiful half breed.

Ema: *blushes* Anyway, I popped into Lia’s head and told her I wanted a one-night stand with adventure and everything else that comes with it. *she slips her hand in Darian’s, twining their fingers together*

What do you do for a living?

Darian: I’m CEO of Wyman Enterprises. It’s a graphics and gaming software development company. Information technology had always fascinated me since it hit the market many years ago.

Ema: I’m a sculpture. I love creating with my hands.

Darian: She’s very good with those hands.

*Ema’s cheeks darken and she elbows him in the side*

What is your greatest fear?

Ema: *frowns* Losing myself to my succubus half. I’m still learning to control her now that she’s fully awakened.

Darian: *wraps his arm around her and hugs her close* That will never happen on my watch. My greatest fear is losing my mate, again.

What do you wear when you go to sleep?

Nothing. *they say at the same time and then laugh*

Darian: Thank you, again, for having us here today.

Ema: Yes, it was great to meet you.

Excerpt

Emalee’s pulse raced as she drummed her fingers on her desk and searched the website. A giddiness she hadn’t known since senior prom ran through her. The site claimed unlimited possibilities, a chance for adventure. Could they mean it? Because she’d already seen things beyond what humans deemed possible. Hell, her whole existence was unimaginable.

Her life had taken a lonesome turn when a friend she hadn’t seen since high school noted how much younger than the rest of her classmates she looked.  Her long-lasting youth had become a liability. Drawing too much attention to her unusual gift wouldn’t prove wise. In some cases, it could get her killed.  With no alternative, she’d closed the door on her life among humans and moved into the local witch coven, where everyone was different.

“What will you do?” Her best friend since preschool, a coven member in good standing, sat next to her for moral support and encouragement. Ema didn’t need much encouragement. The second Beth had mentioned a one-night stand, she’d been hooked. And Madame Eve’s dating service would save her from dying of boredom, at least for one night.

But could she go through with it? A wicked smile tugged at her lips and her inner voice said, “Hell, yeah.” Human strangers gave her a sense of safety. They knew nothing about her past or her unusual abilities.

“Just one night?”

It happened so fast no one saw it coming.  One minute Noah was standing there, relaxed, and the next he knocked one of the guards out cold with an uppercut to the jaw and was moving swiftly for the next when she shouted, “No, Kincaid!  I need you with me on this.”

His gaze snapped to hers. “Attie—”

Meet the Characters

Hello and welcome to my blog!  Today I am featuring a guest blogger who has graciously agreed to let me do a character interview, which is my favorite kind of interview. Join me in welcoming Jenna Jaxon and her characters from Almost Perfect.  It’s a fantastic contemporary erotic romance with wonderful characters so without further ado here is the interview with Roger and Pam.

As a special treat Jenna has a GIVEAWAY!!!  Because Almost Perfect is May’s Read For A Cure book for Decadent, I’m not offering it as a giveaway.  What I can offer is any other book on Decadent’s site.  So one lucky commenter will win their choice of a book from Decadent’s shelves.  Leave your name and email address with your comment to win!

How did you first meet your writer?

Roger:  Well, it was kind of strange, really.  She was on a subway in Washington, D.C.–just sitting, chatting to some friends from her conference.  And I came right up and introduced myself to her.

Pam:  That’s not how she tells it, Roger.  She says she was thinking about me, and wondering who was the worst person in the world she could pair me with who would make me utterly miserable.

Roger glares at her accusingly.

Pam:  I’m just sayin’ that’s the story she tells.

Did you ever think that your life would end up being in a book?

Pam:  No.  I wanted to hold out for a movie.  But Jenna had other ideas, obviously.  I think what we’ve been through merits at least a Lifetime Channel movie of the week.  I mean, you have to admit, our story’s got everything:  comedy, drama, near tragedy, passionate sex on the…

Roger:  You might want to change that to HBO. Or The Playboy Channel.

What are your favorite scenes in your book: the action, the dialog or the romance?

Roger:  I’d have to say the romance.  You take a deserted tropical island, a gourmet dinner for two, and a little black book that has all the moves.  It doesn’t get any better than that.

Pam leans over and whispers in his ear.

Usually it doesn’t get any better than that.  There are exceptions to every rule. But I can certainly recommend the island-paradise-for-two package from Madame Eve’s 1Night Stand service.  Satisfaction guaranteed.  He grins broadly

.

Did you have a hard time convincing your author to write any particular scenes for you?

Pam:  That’s one of the weirder things about our author.  She writes all these hot sex scenes in her historical novels and her other contemporary novella, and then she fizzled when she got to us!  If it hadn’t been for her CP, we’d have spent the whole book eating tea and crumpets.

Roger:  That’s not exactly, true Pam.  She had that great skinny-dipping scene in there.  And she wrote the love scenes, she just needed to add a little more…

Pam:  Sex.

Roger:  Yeah.  Well, I think she was worried about the length.  Pause  Not mine.  My length is good…er great.  It’s great.

Pam:  You’re fine, Roger.  But yes, she was concerned with the word limit.  So she skimped on the love scenes. Shakes her head.  Thank God her crit partner told her to beef it up.  Now that lady deserves an Oscar for best supporting.

Would you be interested in a sequel, if your writer was so inclined?

Pam:  We’re already in negotiations about that.  I have to hand it to Jenna, she wrote a great ending to Almost Perfect that left us wide open for a sequel.  We’re kicking around some ideas with her and waiting for her to finish with her historicals. Pam makes a face.  Period pieces just don’t turn me on any more.

Roger:  Oh, so you didn’t watch Pirates of the Caribbean, numbers 1-4, until you could recite the dialogue perfectly?

Pam:  Ummm. That slipped my mind.

Roger:  In fact, I thought your whole 1Night Stand fantasy was to be ravished by Jack Sparrow!

Pam:  It was not!  pauses  It was an Orlando Bloom-esque pirate.

Roger:  I rest my case.

What do you wear when you go to sleep?

Roger & Pam share a look and say simultaneously:  Each other.

Blurb for Almost Perfect:

Pamela Kimball’s birthday present, a 1Night Stand adventure, promises jump-start her life, put a new man in her bed, and help her forget her past.  Unfortunately, movie-buff Pam’s Pirates of the Caribbean fantasy takes an alarming wrong turn when she’s abandoned on a not quite deserted island—with ex-husband Roger Ware.

Forced by hunger to accept Roger’s offer of dinner, Pam realizes the geek she married has transformed into one of the most charming, sexiest men she’s ever met. His newfound confidence—and hot body—re-kindles old fires.  A simple kiss leads Roger to challenges her to discover how much his lovemaking skills have improved, leaving Pam torn between self-preservation and burning desire.

With time running out before they’re rescued, Pam must decide if her heart can survive the consequences of becoming Roger’s “almost” perfect 1Night Stand.

Excerpt for Almost Perfect:

She inched into the lapping surf, searching for movement. Reflection off the water made this task harder than expected. Wasn’t the Caribbean supposed to be teeming with fish?  Now that’s something she’d had a lot of instruction in. Almost every marooned-on-an-island movie had a scene where the heroine learned to catch fish. Six Days, Father Goose, Blue Lagoon. All you needed was your hands and patience. She could do this.

Pam waded out further then stopped just before the water hit her now dry shorts. “Not gonna to have a damp crotch all night.” The words reminded her of exactly what she had hoped for tonight. “But not from wet shorts!” She headed back to shore to remove and drape them next to her shirt. The bandeau was a different story. Still damp, even after several hours, and uncomfortable. Might dry better if not next to her skin anyway. “Screw it!  Live dangerously.”

Standing as good as naked on the deserted beach, Pam smiled as the warm breeze caressed her bare body. The sense of being slightly naughty added to her delight in the sensual feel of the air as it dried her breasts. Her nipples peaked as the wind cooled them. She strutted down to the water’s edge to sink her toes in the sand, the salty tang in the air adding to the perfect moment.

“If you’re skinny dipping, you forgot to remove one very important piece of clothing.”

Pam whirled around. Roger stood on the beach behind her, a green bottle of Perrier in one hand. His gaze played up and down her naked torso and his salacious grin widened. “Mind if I join you?”

Six Sentence Sunday

Hi and welcome back to Six Sentence Sunday! My thanks to those who visited me last week and those who are visiting for the first time. I do appreciate comments so please, let me know what you think of my six.  Each week I will post another six from a work in progress or finished manuscript.  All you have to do is read and enjoy.  That’s it!

This week’s six come from a completed romantic suspense manuscript titled Murphy’s Law that I am currently editing and getting ready to put through my critique group.  Then I’m going to send it out and see if I can publish it!

Murphy cupped her breast and Sara cried out in pleasure.  She arched into him as fire consumed her until she could no longer put two words together.  God help her she had never felt anything like this and she wanted more.  Her hands untangled from his hair and rode down his taut back, feathering over the uneven scars covering his flesh and creating a maelstrom of emotions inside her.  She clung to him, torn by the need to protect him and have him.  What had he lost for these scars?

I hope you enjoyed these six. For more great snippets please go to Six Sentence Sunday. Or join in the fun next week with six of your own.

My offering is a snippet from my recently contracted book, Hard Core, due to be release October 8, 2012 by Lyrical Press.  I hope you like it.

With a needle in hand she turned his arm over, prepared to start an I.V. She had it in position when his other arm shot out and clamped around her wrist in a bone-crushing grip. Startled, she met his panicked gaze.

“I said no needles.”

Her heart banged against her ribcage as she let the needle slip out of her hand. It hit the floor with a small ting. Alana opened her hands in surrender, her patient’s fingers digging into her flesh. For a man half-dead, he had amazing strength.

“Okay,” she said to placate him. “Relax, I don’t have it anymore. It’s your choice, but I recommend you let me start an I.V. for meds.”

“No. Just fix me.”

Alana pinned him with a no nonsense stare. “I’m not impressed with Superman heroics.”

Face pale and drawn he said gruffly, “I’m not Superman. Learned not to trust people with needles.”

Her fingers were going numb. “If I remove the bullet without pain medication or anesthetic, you’re going to be sorry.”

“Do it,” he said, letting go of her arm.

“Without anesthetics?”

“I don’t need them. Just get it over with.”

Stubborn, stupid, or both? Insane, yes, but there wasn’t time to argue with him.

“Okay. The offer stands if you change your mind.”

“I won’t.”

She doubted that, but didn’t comment. Instead, wiped her forehead with her forearm, and picked up gauze pads to clean the wound.

“Here goes,” she warned and dabbed his skin. Her patient didn’t move or even wince as she cleaned the angry wound. Either he had a will of steel or he’d passed out again. Hopefully, the latter.

Sweat rolled down her back as she finished cleansing the area around the bullet entry. Red flesh puckered with the first signs of infection. In this environment infection was guaranteed, and she was low on antibiotics.

With a steady hand that would have made her father proud, she picked up her instruments and took a deep breath.

“You still with me?”

He murmured a response, turning his head slightly so he could see her. The stark beauty of his profile, despite the bruises, struck her again. The lines of his face were chiseled, unforgiving. The kind of man she glanced at twice if she passed him on the street.

A man associated with a criminal.

“Still here, doc. What are you waiting for?” Husky with pain, his deep voice brought her out of her thoughts.

She gave herself a mental shake. “Want something to bite down on?”

A small, wry smile touched his lips and his lids closed. “You won’t hear a peep out of me. Just fix me, doc.”

“I can hit you so you’ll sleep through it,” she muttered.

That drew a low chuckle from him. She didn’t expect him to have a sense of humor. He seemed too…hard. His chuckle turned into a grunt of pain.

“You probably hit like a girl.”

Alana grinned. “Yes, I do. Rest assured it won’t feel like it.”

“Appreciate the offer, but, no.” His words slurred together, his muscles tense as he fought his body’s demands.

“You got a name, Superman?”

His head rolled to the side, his chest rose and fell slowly. She thought he was out but he murmured, “Cristian.”

“Nice to meet you, Cristian.”

Then she dug into the wound for the bullet.

What do you think?  Has Cristian met his match with Alana?
